NACE SECTION ISLAMABAD GOVERNING BOARD 2019-2020
Mr. Amjad Mumtaz has been working as General Manager Corrosion Control department at SNGPL since more than 5 years. The network which comprises of 7500 km Natural Gas Transmission and 65000 km Distribution network is protected through 1440 CP stations and Monitored at 30000 test stations. It is by far the largest UG piping network in Pakistan but fortunately it lies in the safe hands of corrosion engineers and officers led by GM Corrosion. Working as a trustee in NACE Islamabad section since last couple of years, the local section has evolved immensely under the leadership of Mr. Amjad Mumtaz.
Mr. Shafqat Ali is Chemical Engineer from Punjab University and is presently serving as Chairman in NACE Islamabad Section. Introduced to the field of Corrosion way back in 1982, while working as Junior Supervision Engineer on a jetty project in the Middle East. Have worked in private sector Companies dealing with multidisciplinary engineering projects including Cathodic Protection. Over the years have successfully completed large number of Corrosion related projects for E&P &Industrial sector both in the Middle East and in Pakistan. Member of NACE for almost last 20 years.
Ahmad Jawad is serving as Vice Chairman in NACE Islamabad Section. Ahmed Jawad Khan is an Electrical Engineering graduate from N.E.D. University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. He is working as Chief Engineer (Corr. Control) in Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) at Head Office, Lahore. He has twenty four years’ experience in the field of Corrosion Control, C.P. system design, C.P. system construction, Materials selection for Cathodic Protection, Pipeline Coatings materials testing, Pipeline Coatings installation, Pipeline Integrity Management, Pipeline operations, Underground Gas Leak detection and LPG operations. He has vast experience of External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA), Pipeline failure investigations and C.P. system Audits. He is author of three technical papers published in NACE International USA official journal. He had been regular contributor to NACE Technical Sessions conducted by “NACE Islamabad Pakistan Section”. He had been working in installation of alternate sources of power for C.P system, i.e. Thermo-Electric Generators (TEG), Solar systems and Battery Backup units.
Mr. Sultan Ansari is serving as Treasurer in NACE Islamabad section Pakistan. Mr. Sultan is Deputy Chief Corrosion Engineer in Pakistan Petroleum Limited. He has also experience of serving Pak Arab Refinery (PARCO) and Sui Southern Gas Company. Sultan Ansari is Graduate in Electrical Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering & Tech. Jamshoro in 1993.Working in the field of designing, installation and supervision of CP systems on various organizations since 1994 as a fulltime cathodic protection professional.
Mr. Ameeq Farooq
Mr. Ameeq Farooq is currently serving as Secretary in NACE Islamabad section Pakistan. After receiving his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, he is currently doing his Ph.D. from Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, CEET, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He is also holding a position of Lecturer in the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He is a member of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), member of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), a life member of Society of Corrosion Engineers Pakistan (SOCEP), member of Institute of Corrosion (ICorr) and Faculty advisor of Materials Chapter Punjab University (MCPU). Due to good standing in the field of corrosion in 2017, 2018 and 2019 NACE Islamabad Pakistan Section selected him as Secretary of the section.

Ahmed is currently looking at the Corrosion Control BA of a leading inspection & testing company with the responsibilities of leading product innovation, strategy, technology-based transformation and client reporting project implementations of the CP services in power,petrochemical and oil & gas sectors. Ahmed has a vast experience in CP Designing, commissioning and data Interpretation for assets like Wells, above ground storage tanks, Mounded Bullets, plant and Cross country Pipelines. He is a graduate from NUST with a Gold medal in his under Graduate Studies. Having 4 international certifications in the field of corrosion, he is a Member of Institute of Corrosion, UK along with 3 other certifications that include NACE CP level II, NACE CP level III and Senior NACE Corrosion Technologist. He holds the office for NACE Islamabad Pakistan Section as Section Program Chairman and has a major role in organizing the 1st NACE international Conference in Pakistan.
